This course introduces the fundamental theory behind materials, their properties, structure, and engineering applications. Topics covered include materials' atomic and crystal structures, phase diagrams, responses to stresses and strains, and deformation mechanisms. This course is based on visual learning and so the textbook for this course is essential to better understand the theory since it presents diagrams that substantially clarify concepts.
Don't be fooled by the simplicity of the examples done in class and tutorials. The midterm and final exam questions will build off of the same theory but will be more complex.
